As guys grow older they start to develop a sense of bond between them and start calling each other “bros”. This starts to form something called Bromance. Bros are also supposedly 100% loyal to each other and will die for each other. A Bro likes to high five and fist five each other, because that’s just how it is and it doesn’t really seem douchey at all.
So to what extent does this Bromance entails? Bromance and brotherhood seem to be really popular nowadays, what with shows like How I Met Your Mother making it cool and all.
Honestly sometimes it seems like just an excuse for kids to use the word bro, or brotherhood to reach their own means.
Bros before hos… but real bros understand it’s hos before bros
A lot guys like to start spouting that tired line, “Bros before hos”, in which two guys or more would prioritize each other first BEFORE any girl.
I think that’s a big crock of shit. Unless you are gay and really love male penis, there’s really no reason why you can’t go after a female AND allow your friends to enjoy the same pleasure of life. It seems like one fellow bro starts to abuse the “Bros before Hos” line when he himself didn’t manage to score for the night. Chill the fuck out man, it’s not as if your fellow bro is betraying your honour or giving away your lifelong secrets to a girl. Loser bro who didn’t manage to score may be left alone for the night, but well, life’s just like that. Don’t whine when your friends are busy some other girls while you are stuck alone. Don’t start calling them non-bros at all or I am pretty sure they would just get pissed with you.
On some level, the line “Bros before hos” works as a self-defence mechanism and a scapegoat for a loser bro to blame everyone else but himself.
So if you are a real bro, let your fellow bro enjoy himself and stop being a bitch. I would gladly tell my friends to fuck off if I had a chance to score with a girl. Why? Because I am just an asshole that way LOL. But hey, in return, I’d never complain of being left behind alone when my fellow bros have scored. I even have had to take a cab back home myself once because a fellow friend had a chance with some chick.
Abusing the Bro Code is what idiots do
A real bro watches out for one another and doesn’t abuse the Bro Code. It is extremely annoying when one guy keeps going like, “Blah blah blah [I want a big favour]… After all, we are bros right?” *grins*. That is just extremely annoying and only jackasses do that. I personally think that bros are men, REAL men. Yeah we watch out for each other, but it doesn’t mean we have to rely on each other all the time.
In fact, step it up a notch so you can actually INSPIRE your fellow bros to better themselves. To do that first, you got to grow your own balls. If you don’t want to grow balls, then go find a sister instead. You can talk about your feelings and stuff then.
Bro Code in reverse
Let’s say a fellow bro is about to get his ass kicked by a bunch of other dudes, or let’s say your bro is pissed-drunk.
So a real bro doesn’t just stand by. He fights along side or makes sure his bro gets home safe right? Then that would be a real “Hell yeah we are bros!!!!” moment.
Yeah… I guess.
I think it’s a simple idea of taking responsibility for yourself and your own actions. If you are constantly getting drunk or getting into fights, you are truly being nothing but a burden to your fellow bros. A real bro doesn’t burden his other bros much less put their safety and well-being at risk.
At the end of the day, the “Bro Code” may have many scenarios and nuances to it, but I think at the end of the day it’s just a bunch of dudes being good friends and watching out for one another. Sides, there’s just really how much “bromance” one can take. It tends to be a bit douchey after a while.
