The difference between an asshole and a douchebag
Oh hey guys!
Do you know what’s a douchebag? That’s me.
And I am pretty sure you guys know what are assholes because they are everywhere! You, your brother, your sister, your friends and even your mom definitely have had met their fair share of assholes in life.
I am here now to write about and also challenge these two terms. Many people are always asshole this asshole that while some are spewing forth, “That guy is such a douchebag” randomly. Yes, more often than not, these terms are used out of anger and towards somebody repulsive, but if you bother to dig a little deeper, you will find the difference.
There IS a difference between these two types of people, despite both having or sharing the same negative connotations to it all. However, lately with shows like Jersey Shore and other funny shit online, the term douchebag isn’t that negative anymore.
Indeed, this is a lesson on etiquette and being sophisticated by me, a douchebag. That way none of you will make this mistake again and that you won’t be super embarrassed or anything.
A douchebag can be a nice person, a cool one at that
Yes he can be.
By all typical, mainstream and stereotypical definitions of a douchebag, this is what a douchebag is:
“Douche bag, or simply douche, is considered to be a pejorative term. The slang usage of the term originated in the 1960s. The term usually refers to a person, usually male, with a variety of negative qualities, specifically arrogance and engaging in obnoxious and/or irritating actions, most often without malicious intent.”
Well okay that sounds pretty negative, but time to dig deeper.
A douchebag was originally a very negative term as people just couldn’t stand several particular groups of people. They somehow are categorized into a group called the douchebag, with several variations, like so:
Different kinds of douchebags:
-(successful) douchebag at work
-Douchebag who sticks to his stereotypes (wears loud clothes, gets tanned, gels his hair)
With all the above now, can you now see that there is actually a kind of a faux pas BECAUSE there are actually (many) real definitions of a douchebag? Also, people today are getting used to the term and using it freely WITHOUT any malicious intent.
Can you also really find fault with the above douchebags? If you have issues with someone constantly going to the gym and keeping fit, you ought to look in the mirror and check if you are a fat ass. You may not like the “douchebag” in the office, but office politics exist everywhere. Unless you plan to quit your job, deal with it. A douchebag who has fun in a party just means he knows how to be happy and have fun. A douchebag who sticks to an identity means he dares to be himself, something which a lot of people are having trouble with.
Hell, does the douchebag even care about what you think?
I actually previously wrote (and it’s still my most popular post according to Google), on why being a douchebag is kind of awesome .
The message here is this: Don’t judge a douchebag.
Go watch Jersey Shore. Yes, I watch it. I don’t care if you think it’s a lame reality show where idiots fight in a house. The major appeal to me for this awesome show is that all of them look like douchebags, but in it you can actually see how nice and normal they all can be.
An asshole is just an asshole
There’s really nothing much to say here.
I have not in my entire life heard anything good about an asshole. EVERYBODY on this planet definitely knows what an asshole is. Everybody has their own definition of an asshole because they all lead their own special lives and meet people they can’t stand.
Have you ever met someone who is happily talking about an asshole? I think not. When that term is used, it means shit is for real.
An asshole is someone who needs to bring other people down in order to fulfill his own agenda. He is hateful, annoying, insecure, jealous and most of all, stupid in the sense he doesn’t bother to learn.
A douchebag doesn’t give a shit about those around him.
Besides, do you see mainstream media generally accepting the term asshole or assholes in general? No, I don’t see a show called, “16 and already an asshole”. There is simply no need for shows or avocation for assholes, we have politicians for that.
This is how I see the difference a douchebag and an asshole. So which one are you? You shouldn’t be an asshole. That’s weak. You CAN be a douchebag and not care about what others think.
