I’ve written and referred many times before that we all should stave off social media.
Why? Cause social media is a waste of time, especially when you’re hooked on it. Yeah, all those talk on people using their phones during dinner or wherever they go, it’s all messed up.
Conversations die, human interaction and stuff are also deteriorating.
But most of all, I think you, as an individual is not doing yourself justice if you are just indulging too much in social media.
Every had the feeling you feel like you’re doing (“I’m doing something! I’m surfing Facebook!) and you don’t feel very productive? It’s like you’re surfing your feed for hours and you don’t even know what the hell you’re doing?
Fuck all of that man.
The problem is… Everybody is complaining about social media and not doing a damn thing about it. And advocates, more often than not just keep bitching about it and are like “Quit social media!” as if it’s so damn easy.
It’s not that easy, but it’s possible.
Here’s a starter guide to getting off social media slowly
The whole idea is to quit social media slowly.
Going cold turkey is kind of difficult. I get it. Even I’ve see a need to check my Facebook everyday.
So how do you do it slowly?
You make sure you only use one social media device one at a time, at one setting.
I realized the main problem with us is that we tend to get too distracted as we try to multi-task too fucking much.
So what does this mean?
As you’re surfing Facebook on your computer, make sure you aren’t surfing other shit on your phone.
As you’re watching TV, make sure your laptop or phone isn’t there with you. That’s how you become a bum, a distracted bum. Think about it, when was the last time you really enjoyed a TV show or a movie for what is it?
As you’re surfing using your phone… why not concentrate and use one app at a time and not immediately click on every new notification?
This is how you start small. This is how you being a journey of appreciating shit around you.
You gotta realize that you don’t have to use your devices outside. They don’t have control over you! NOTHING has control over you.
You gotta realize you ought to rest your body on your bed and start sleeping, so get that phone away from the bed.
The whole point is to letting social media take over your life. That’s kind of dramatic, but you know, it’s already happening. The sad part is we don’t even realize it.
Start slow. It’s easy to get off it.
I talk about social in my book, Street Smart Social: Become popular the honest way. Check it out. Get out there to meet real people.
