Potential and talent don’t mean jack

For the life of me, and my blog, I was always told that I have a lot of potential.

Or that I have great talent for writing.

While it’s nice to know that people do believe in me, I just got to say…

They don’t mean jack. They’re worthless encouragement.

What else is there?

Let’s see…

“I see a great deal of things in you”

“You’ve got a good heart

“You’ve a good eye for things”

“You kind of remind me of…”

“You have a bright future ahead of you”

“You’re halfway there”

“You’ve a sharp mind”

“You’re very capable

“It’s amazing how fast you learn things”

“Wow, you’re such a natural

They’re all useless.

Without hard work and effort.

Take action. It’s that simple.

Just saying.

Do you want more honest-as-fuck stories like this?

It’s great every now and again to have our ego massaged, but you’re 100% right it doesn’t invite us to sit back and suck up the adulation, it just reminds us we’re doing something right and spurs us on to keep working hard and as you say take massive action, because when it comes down to it, there’s one of the keys to success.

Yeah man. Call it ego or whatever, I find encouragement can be a double-edged sword, if you wield it wrongly.
