I was chatting with a good friend last night and the topic of Karma came out.
What is Karma?
“The cosmic principle according to which each person is rewarded or punished in one incarnation according to that person’s deeds in the previous incarnation.”
Now the questions are: Do you believe in Karma? Does this cosmic effect really exist? Is Karma always happening in our lives?
My answer: No.
My friend and I were actually chatting about our past relationships and how f**ked up they were, mainly because we both got cheated on. My friend then made it so that, “Karma is complete bullshit” and “Good guys will always finish last”.
Cynical, yeah, but I agree to some extent.
I don’t believe in Karma; in the idea that should you f**k up in anyway, some bad shit is going to happen to you, or when you do a good deed, fortune awaits.
From what I have seen, Karma seems to be a defence mechanism and a false pretense of comfort that our wrongdoers will get their just desserts, or a glimmer of hope for a brighter future to outshine a dark present.
That’s why people always go like, “Nah forget about it man, let it be. Karma you know?”
Right. What goes around comes around right? Nah.
I believe if you want to make things happen, you make it happen. Just set out on your own, and get it. You want it? Go get it. Even if you do a lot of good deeds, it doesn’t mean you are going to get the same in return. Even if you see an asshole being an asshole, it doesn’t mean that he’s going to suffer next time. You just never know.
But do I think everyone lives a life of ups and downs? Yes. Everyone suffers, everyone joys. We all struggle one way or another, it’s just some of us are unlucky enough to really suffer a screwed up life.
