This is a post on quotes on love. But not just any kind of love. I am talking about the kind of love that actually hurts and makes you feel a certain kind of pain, like glass shards in your system.
That’s right, love in all its supposed glory can hurt. I actually find it kind of cliche when people quote that line from the Bible, “Love is patient, love is kind…”. I wouldn’t say that’s complete bullshit, but it’s just a far cry from the many special definitions living people have on love.
What do I think of love? I think it can either make you feel your complete self, yet when it pleases, it shuts you down to your lowest.
Like my first ever breakup. Yes, the first one is always the most painful. You know how when you first experience your first ever heartbreak from your first supposed love, when you wake up in the morning, on your bed, everything seems fine. And then suddenly in an instant, your brain registers the fact that you have broken up and YOU JUST KNOW it’s going to be a horrible day ahead.
Then you pretty much spend the next few months feeling like shit.
To me it was like, “Wow I can’t believe I have to feel like this. I used to be happy”.
Sometimes, love isn’t just the fairy tale we hope for when we were little kids. Here’s 23 unconventional quotes on love which I think conveys the idea of love not being all ought it’s meant to be.
23 unconventional quotes on love
“Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn’t it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build up all these defenses, you build up a whole suit of armor, so that nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life…You give them a piece of you. They didn’t ask for it. They did something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile at you, and then your life isn’t your own anymore. Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so simple a phrase like ‘maybe we should be just friends’ turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. It hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It’s a soul-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. I hate love.”
“We have this idea that love is supposed to last forever. But love isn’t like that. It’s a free-flowing energy that comes and goes when it pleases. Sometimes, it stays for life; other times it stays for a second, a day, a month or a year. So don’t fear love when it comes simply because it makes you vulnerable. But don’t be surprised when it leaves either. Just be glad you had the opportunity to experience it.”
In our minds, love and lust are really separated. It’s hard to find someone that can be kind and you can trust enough to leave your kids with, and isn’t afraid to throw her man up against the wall and lick him from head to toe.
I honestly think it is better to be a failure at something you love than to be a success at something you hate.
“Love is a matter of chance; matrimony is a matter of money, and divorce – a matter of course.”
– Helen Rowland
Hate is misguided love.
I say what I want to say and do what I want to do. There’s no in between. People will either love you for it or hate you for it.
Love is blind; hate is deaf.
“Love is only the dirty trick played on us to achieve continuation of the species.”
– W. Somerset Maugham
“The only creatures that are evolved enough to convey pure love are dogs and infants.”
– Johnny Depp
“No woman ever falls in love with a man unless she has a better opinion of him than he deserves.”
– Edgar Watson Howe
“You know that when I hate you, it is because I love you to a point of passion that unhinges my soul.”
– Andre Gide
“I love the way you love, but I hate the way I’m supposed to love you back.”
-David Foster Wallace
“Once you have loved someone, you’d do anything in the world for them… except love them again.”
“The most happy marriage I can picture or imagine to myself would be the union of a deaf man to a blind woman.”
– Samuel Taylor Coleridge
“It is impossible to fall out of love. Love is such a powerful emotion, that once it envelops you it does not depart. True love is eternal. If you think that you were once in love, but fell out of it, then it wasn’t love you were in. There are no ‘exit’ signs in love, there is only an ‘on’ ramp.”
“Trip over love you can get up; fall in love you fall forever!”
” I love you is an 8 letter word then again so is bullshit!”
No matter how much you think you love somebody, you’ll step back when the pool of their blood edges up too close.

“Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Never give up work. Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it. If you are lucky enough to find love, remember it is there and don’t throw it away.”
When you’re taught to love everyone, to love your enemies, then what value does that place on love?
“We’re all a little weird. And life is weird. And when we find someone
whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into
mutually satisfying weirdness—and call it love—true love.”
